The Palms Resort opened on South Padre Island in 1972 as a 30-room drive-up motor lodge directly on the beach at 3616 Gulf Boulevard. More than fifty years later, we remain independent, family-run, and beachfront, while everything around us has filled in with chain resorts. The retro-boutique feel is intentional. Direct beach access from every room is non-negotiable. The on-site Cafe On The Beach has grown from a small breakfast spot into a chef-driven restaurant and full bar that locals and guests both call home. We are pet-friendly, Winter Texan friendly, and centrally located on the island within walking distance of South Padre Island attractions including Sea Turtle Inc, the Birding Center, fishing charters, and more!

Friendly staff, on site restaurant was great, food and drinks. Room was comfortable and clean. Quite resort and low key. Would totally recommend! Resort located on beach, direct access to watch the sun rise. Pet friendly is a pro.

Loved the hotel and restaurant both. Great place to stay, and it was right on the water. The rooms are small but quite charming, especially for an older motel. Loved the little kitchenette inside the room. One could definitely stay a while and make full use of the small refrigerator and microwave. There is even a little kitchen sink. I would stay there again.

Awesome little place on the beach. So happy we found this spot. Nice. Clean. Has walking path right to hotel and dog friendly. Cute and good restaurant just makes this place the perfect spot for a getaway.
Maid service is so awesome. They even put my daughters stuffed animal on the bed with pillows 😍😁

“This is old school South Padre Island and we love it! Very clean, quiet and great views of the ocean from the pool. The on property restaurant is excellent. We are locals and this is our go-to place to stay on the island.”
